Monastery of Bose
In a beautiful natural setting near the Church of San Secondo in Magnano, this complex is the best example of Romanesque style in the Biella area. Bose is one of the most well-known monastic communities in Europe, and brings together men and women from the different Christian churches: Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox. Founded by charismatic prior Enzo Bianchi and open since 1965, it currently has about eighty members of seven different nationalities, almost all lay people, in the tradition of primitive monasticism.
The community works in various areas: research, study and circulation of Biblical information, and also farming, beekeeping, woodworking, ceramics, typography, tapestry making, and gastronomy.
Anyone can stay at Bose to participate in educational courses and meetings on subjects of particular spiritual interest, or simply to share the community's daily life for a period of time. In addition to the sharing common prayer, the community offers guests individual retreat days guided by a brother or sister of Bose.
